Michael Vouzounerakis was born in Heraklion, Crete in 1980. He lives and works in Ierapetra, Crete. After finishing High school he left to study in the school of marble-sculpture in Pirgos in Tinos island. His teachers were the sculptors G.Maniatakos, the painter D.Mbeza, G.Silikos also teacher of marble-carving and Mrs G.Roukouni-Maniatakou teacher in architectural design.
During his three-year studies in Tinos (1998 - 2001) he was awarded three times with the Aegean & Cyclades Ministry's award for his performance in marble sculpture. He participates to many art-venues and his sculptures can be seen in private collections, churches in Greece and abroad.
